About Gary Robert Rossington
Gary Rossington is an American musician, best known as one of the founding members and guitarists of the iconic southern rock band, Lynyrd Skynyrd. Born on December 4, 1951, in Jacksonville, Florida, Rossington formed Lynyrd Skynyrd in 1964 with Ronnie Van Zant and Allen Collins, among others.
Gary Rossington played guitar on some of Lynyrd Skynyrd’s most famous songs, including “Free Bird,” “Sweet Home Alabama,” and “Gimme Three Steps.”
He was involved in a serious car accident in 1976 that left him hospitalized for months and forced the band to take a hiatus. He later rejoined Lynyrd Skynyrd in the 1980s and has been with the band ever since.
He has also released solo albums and collaborated with other musicians. As a member of Lynyrd Skynyrd, he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2006.

He was born in a musical family and started playing guitar at the age of 12. Gary Rossington’ early musical influences included blues and rock and roll. Rossington liked music artists Chuck Berry, Elvis Presley & B.B. and was greatly influenced by them.
He formed his first band called The Noble Five in 1964 with his friends Ronnie Van Zant and Alan Collins. The band later became Lynyrd Skynyrd. Gary Rossington remained key member of the band. He is known for his philanthropic work, like the support given to the Maliwai Washington Youth Foundation. It is a Jacksonville charity organization which helps & provide education and other opportunities to underprivileged children.
Solo Work of Rossington
He also had a solo career while working with Lynyrd Skynyrd. He launched his first solo album in 1986 called Rossington. Artist such as Bob Seger, Jeff Beck & Peter Frampton collaborated on this album.
Being a part of the Rossington Band, he released several albums with his wife named Dale Krantz Rossington.
